Megato · Мегато · Μέγατο · מגאטו · メガト; Version 0.800 — a future font, work in progress

The Megato fonts have a strong technical and angular aesthetic with repeating elements. The design reflects Andreas Seidel's experience from many typeface projects, especially stencil fonts and user interface fonts for the gaming software industry.

Megato is a family of six weights and two widths, offering a wide range of expressive possibilities. The family is a »uniwidth« design - no text wrapping when changing styles, which is useful for highlighting text in UI environments.

Megato is a multiscript font family. In addition to Latin, Latin Extended and Cyrillic, Modern Greek and Hebrew scripts are supported. Megato also supports Japanese Kana and very few Kanijs, starting with the most common ones. The long term goal is to fully implement all Japanese Jōyō-Kanji (常用漢字). Currently 200 out of 2136 Jōyō-Kanjis are supported. Keep in mind that the Kanjis are still in beta. They are under constant revision and development.

The status of the Hebrew (Ivrit) script, especially the vowels, is still Beta but modern Hebrew (Ivrit) should work well with the fonts.

The condensed Italic styles are under development. Kana and Hebrew letters are also upright in italics, but correspond in stem width.

Just try it!
For a limited time, the Megato Light font license is available for the symbolic price of 1 Euro. Of course, you can use the websites font preview, but it uses a limited character set. So for testing we recommend to invest 1 Euro for a complete font file.

We decided to offer the beta fonts in Early Access for licensing. The Latin part is 100% working and kerned. Cyrillic is also very final. Greek still needs some kerning. Japanese Hiragana and Katakana are 100% implemented and we working on the missing Jōyō-Kanjis. For some advertising, the current Japanese characters should work fine.

At the same time we hope for your valuable feedback. Designing the Kanjis takes time but it's also a lot of fun. Your advantage is that you don't have to pay the full price for the final fonts if you buy your font licence early. Much like my dear colleagues at Future Fonts do. With each new update, the price of the fonts will go up a bit. But please remember that this licence is for desktop use only. If you want to use the fonts for broadcasting, movies or bundle them with software, you will always need an extended license. We are open to customize the fonts for your needs.
