US Roman stencil font, now with lowercase

With Vtg Stencil US No. 4 and US No. 2,
we have honored the most historically used stencil typeface of the United States and made them available as digital fonts.
We call it «US Roman».
However, there were not enough historically valid samples for a No. 1.
You must know, we create a No. 1 font only with complete uppercase and lowercase characters.
Sure, we found lowercase letters on some custom stencil tools, but a generic tool was missing, suggesting a significantly higher usage of these letters.
But when we found a generic stencil tool that included lowercase letters, specifically from the leading manufacturer at the time, New York Stencil Works,
that was the impetus to create a font that included lowercase letters.

New York Stencil Works produced the very popular rotating stencil disc in ½, ¾, and 1 inch with capital letters and numbers from about 1870 to about 1920.
At that time, all food manufacturers were required to label their packaging.
This type of stenciling tool was an inexpensive and adequate means for small producers to comply with this requirement.
We are pleased to now offer a lowercase and uppercase version of this popular stencil typeface.
The font now rightly bears the number 1.
For historically correct applications, the period is roughly from 1860 to the present. Since the 1920s, however, this design has steadily declined in importance,
due to the many other popular stencil tools and the preference for gothic typefaces.
Nevertheless, this is the mother of all American stencil typefaces, and it is widely used in the fields of handicrafts and agriculture.
